About Me

My name is Davin Salo. I live in London, ON, Canada during the school year, and in Sioux Lookout, ON, Canada during holidays and summertime. I am currently between my second and third year of Graphic Design at Fanshawe College.

I have long delved into the arts and even when quite young had my creative aspect; using Lego, pencil and paper, writing short stories and poetry. All of these were my way of interpreting my world, of enjoying it just a little more. Reading mostly fantasy novels and escaping to worlds so much more mysterious, it is little wonder to me that I would follow my passion for creativity, and creation.

In highschool I concentrated my studies more than ever in the arts. Drama, music, art, photography. Around this time was when my creative hobbies really started to come along. Illustrating and carving being my most prominent. I returned for another semester after graduating to improve my grade 12 art mark, as I was not satisfied. I took part in a Writerscraft course where we wrote short stories and the beginnings to novels. I was the student editor, photographer and journalist for both the Highschool Yearbook as well as the Highschool Newspaper. Along with that I did the Highschool morning announcements along with a couple close friends for about two years.

I had a dilemma however, and didn't know where I could express myself creatively and still remain employed full time, and after taking my last semester of highschool I went straight into full time work and took the rest of the year off before heading to Fanshawe College the following fall for Graphic Design, which seemed like a step in the right direction. I have not regretted my decision, and have continued to expand my knowledge, my skills and added new ways to my many ways of enjoying the world; through creation.
